Answering Trivia Questions to Make Extra Money

Sunday, February 19th, 2012

As a way to make some extra money, I recently participated in an online radio quiz show. As part of my participation, I had to answer several quiz questions regarding the early days of Motown Records. As background, Motown is a record label that was originally started by Berry Gordy in Detroit, Michigan during the late 1950’s. One of the questions I was asked included naming Berry Gordy’s former occupation before he launched Motown. I correctly answered this question by saying he was a former auto worker at Ford Motor company. By answering this question correctly, I received a cash prize of five hundred dollars. The next question involved the former R&B singing group the Temptations, which included what name did the group use when they initially wanted to sign to Motown. The answer the was ‘The Elgins’. The last question asked was when did Motown move to California, with the correct answering being 1971. By the end of game I had won five thousand dollars.

Injecting a Bit of Humor in Doctors Notes

Friday, January 27th, 2012

Laughter is the best medicine, or so it is said. But while a bit of laughter can surely help you on your way to recovery, being absent from work will sometimes require more than just laughs in order for you to be excused. If you’re getting a copy of a doctors note online, then I might be a good idea to inject some humor into it.

For best results, look for funny sites that have an interesting take on sicknesses. Also look for doctors notes that have a good grasp of puns and wordplay. This way, you are both assured of a well-written doctors note, but one with a hint of light-heartedness.

This way, even if your sickness were serious, you can at least take a bit of the problem away with your humorous doctors notes. Can you truly joke your sickness away? In some cases, probably yes, especially if laughter can promote good health.

Just Too Busy to Have Some Fun

Thursday, November 17th, 2011

Cris has been very busy at work these days. In fact, he has not gone out with his friends for so long a time already. Everyone's wondering what ever happened to him. “Where's that fun loving, free spirited Cris that we know?” they would say. Just the other day, Cris was sent home by the company doctor. He looked really sick and could use the time to take some rest. At first, Cris refused to go home, thinking that he had so much to do in the office. But the doctor insisted for him to go home and rest. “Try to sleep, Cris. It's going to do you good.” his doctor advised him. When he got home, he went straight to his room and changed his clothes. After that, he went to bed and tried to close his eyes, hoping to follow the doctor's orders. But then he just can't sleep. So he got his laptop instead, and checked his MySpace inbox. It was the first time that he has opened his account in months. He realized that his friends were already looking for him. Alone and feeling sick, Cris called his friends.
